After Midnight Jewelry, the name came from a small inside joke between my daughter and I. She was three and insisted we had bedtime snacks to help us remain fueled to dream our best dreams. I, of course, agreed. However, those bedtime snacks were never referred to as ‘bedtime snacks’ but ‘midnight snacks’ instead.
My daughter is a clever girl, as soon as it got dark out and bedtime would near, she would say to me in such a panic, “Mommy, it’s after midnight and we didn’t have our ‘midnight snack’ yet. How will we ever dream our best dreams?” and so, After Midnight, a nearly life-long dream of mine, became reality and After Midnight Jewelry was born.

My name is Melanie, I am a single mother to a now energetic and ambitious little four-year-old mini version of myself. I have more than 16 years of retail, retail management and customer service experience under my belt. I’ve always had a passion for accessories during my time in a conventional retail setting. I was the display case queen. Visuals, displays, marketing and layouts were my specialty and I lived for every moment.

After COVID hit Ontario pretty hard, we experienced 3 major lockdowns causing many retailers to shut down, some permanently, and fearing my return to the job force would leave me with immense job insecurity, I needed more for myself, for my daughter, for our future.
I thought, there is no time like the present then to start my own business, be my own boss and create something that would leave behind a legacy my daughter would be proud of.

After Midnight Jewelry’s pieces were curated specifically for the working mom, the business mom, the stay-at-home-mom, the everyday mom’s mom. Our pieces are transitional, versatile, chic, and luxurious, without carrying that steep price tag. I wanted my pieces to just be an addition to YOU not be the centre of attention, because darling, you ARE magnificent. I believe all women should be empowered and fearless, righteous and revered, beautiful, strong, confident because WE ARE.
